Darjeeling Black Leaf Tea

$18.00

Known across the world as one of the finest tea varieties, Darjeeling Tea is distinguished by its delicate, light and fruity flavour with musky-sweet tasting notes similar to Muscat wine. The flavour is distinct from the malty notes in other black teas.

It is sometimes called the ‘Champagne of Teas’, not only because of its elegant, complex, sophisticated flavour, crafted to appeal to the tea connoisseur, but because it can only be grown in the Darjeeling District of West Bengal, India not unlike wines from the Champagne Region of France. Darjeeling black tea is considered to have a higher level of anti-oxidants than other black teas.

Tea (camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub native to China) was introduced to India by the British in the 1830s. Situated in India’s north eastern Himalayas, Darjeeling was a popular British summer retreat, and the wealthy estate owners in the area helped to establish Darjeeling Tea’s royal reputation and its pricey desirability overseas.

Spice Zen’s organic Darjeeling Black Leaf Tea is a premium second flush tea. It is harvested during the prime summer monsoon season when the tannins in the tea are completely developed to produce a fuller-bodied flavour and a dark amber hue when brewed.

Our Darjeeling tea makes a perfect cup at any time of day, especially as an afternoon black tea with little sugar and only a drop of milk.

Brewing Instructions: Rinse the teapot with warm water. Use 1 teaspoon of tea leaves per cup, add water at 85 degrees Celsius and brew for 3 to 5 minutes. For best results, brew with fresh, filtered or pure water. Enjoy with or without milk.

Loose leaf tea.

Organic Ingredient: Black Tea Leaves.

No added preservatives, flavourings, dairy, flour, gluten, nuts, salt, sugar
