Botanical name: Curcuma longa
We source Organic Turmeric Powder (>5% Curcumin*) from India. This is packed in a recyclable, amber coloured, glass jar with an airtight induction seal, on receipt of your order, to maximise freshness.
Turmeric Powder (>5% Curcumin*) has a dark yellow colour and a very pungent, rich and musky aroma. The flavour is more bitter than the standard Turmeric Powder. While it can be used for cooking, it has been used for many purposes in traditional Indian culture for thousands of years.
Turmeric Powder (>5% Curcumin*) has become fashionable in Turmeric tea, Turmeric lattes, smoothies, salad dressings or Golden Milk. Ideally it is combined with Ginger, Cinnamon, Clove and Black Pepper.
There are several chemical compounds in Turmeric Powder, principal being Curcuminoids. Curcumin is the active substance in Curcuminoids. Research on Curcumin is in its infancy. We recommend researching various sources to evaluate the benefits of Turmeric (e.g. https://examine.com/supplements/curcumin/). We highly recommend adding Black Pepper with Turmeric Powder.
Turmeric Powder should be handled carefully as it can leave a yellow stain on your hands, utensils and clothing. Place the washed utensils and clothing under sunlight for the yellow stain to fade away. The stain on the hands will usually fade within a day.

Turmeric Powder (>5% Curcumin)
Turmeric Powder (>5% Curcumin) was delivered in a carefully wrapped package, complete with tissue paper and biodegradable packing material. The healthy fragrance of Turmeric filled the air on opening the seal. It was hard to resist feeling the smooth, dark orange powder between my fingers. I used it for a traditional Indian moong daal (yellow lentils) preparation, which has minimal spices. One doesn't taste the turmeric, but the perfect yellow color hints of the goodness in the daal. I also used half a teaspoon of turmeric with my morning glass of warm water with lemon and honey. Here, I could taste the pure turmeric and felt good about its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Overall, a delightful experience. Thank you, SpiceZen. -
