Warmly spiced and lightly glazed, this honey spiced salmon is lifted with the bright, aromatic acidity of Spice Zen Finger Lime Powder. Gentle heat from cumin, ginger and chilli balances the natural sweetness of honey, while finger lime adds a clean citrus note that cuts through the richness of the fish. As it cooks, the glaze toasts and deepens, creating a beautifully rounded dish that feels both comforting and quietly refined.
Ingredients
-
1 salmon fillet (about 300 g)
-
3 garlic cloves, crushed
-
¼ teaspoon Spice Zen Finger Lime Powder
-
1 teaspoon Spice Zen Roasted Ground Cumin
-
½ teaspoon Spice Zen Cayenne Pepper (adjust to taste)
-
1 teaspoon Spice Zen Cold-Pressed Ginger Juice (or ½ teaspoon ginger powder)
-
1 teaspoon Spice Zen Cold-Pressed Turmeric Juice (or a pinch of turmeric powder)
-
2 tablespoons organic honey
-
½ teaspoon sea salt
-
1 sprig rosemary
-
2 teaspoons Spice Zen Sunflower Oil
To Finish
-
½ teaspoon Spice Zen Cold-Pressed Sesame Oil
-
Fresh parsley leaves
-
Spice Zen Crushed Chilli Flakes (optional)
-
Salad leaves, to serve
Directions
Pat the salmon dry and set aside. In a small bowl, combine the garlic, finger lime powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, ginger, turmeric, honey, salt and rosemary.
Coat the salmon evenly with the marinade and rest for 5–10 minutes.
Heat the sunflower oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Place the salmon in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, spooning the glaze over as it cooks, until the salmon is just cooked through and lightly glazed.
Drizzle with sesame oil just before removing from the pan.
Transfer to a serving plate and finish with parsley, chilli flakes and salad leaves.
Chef’s Notes
Cook over moderate heat so the honey glazes gently without burning.
Spoon the pan glaze over the salmon as it cooks for even colour and flavour.
Recipe Note
Citrus Balance: Finger lime adds brightness without the sharpness of fresh lemon.
Heat Adjustment: Reduce cayenne slightly for a milder finish.
Serving Context: Serve with simple greens, steamed vegetables or rice.
