Botanical Name: Thymus vulgaris

A herb of the mint family, Thyme is native to the southern Mediterranean region, Africa and Asia. It is very aromatic with warm, earthy, slightly floral and peppery fragrance. It has a spicy and smoky taste with undertones of cloves and mint.

Dried Thyme is commonly used in southern European and Mediterranean cuisine. It is used in sauces, soups, stews, vinegar and blends like Bouquet Garni, Herbes de Provence, Za’atar, Dukkah and jerk spice blends. It is a key seasoning in Creole and Cajun cooking and works well with blackened meat and fish dishes. Dried Thyme retains its flavour exceedingly well.

We source certified organic Thyme from Egypt. It is premium quality, aromatic and full of flavour. It adds a warm, earthy, and floral fragrance to your dishes. Rub the dried Thyme between fingers and add during the cooking process to release the essential oils.

Thyme contains vitamins, minerals (potassium, manganese and magnesium) and dietary fibre and is used for its antimicrobial, antiviral and antiseptic properties.

Use dried Thyme to flavour beef, chicken, cheese, egg, fish, lamb and lentils dishes and vegetables like cabbage, carrots, leeks, onions, potatoes, peas and tomatoes. It pairs well with other seasonings like allspice, bay leaf, basil, chilli, garlic, marjoram, nutmeg, oregano and parsley.

One teaspoon of dried Thyme leaves equals one tablespoon of fresh Thyme leaves.

Organic Ingredient: Thyme.

Simple ways to use dried Thyme are as a flavouring in tea, quiches, omelettes and cheeses. Add a pinch or two of dried Thyme to the bread flour to make great herbed bread.
