Galangal is a reddish brown, tough, woody rhizome of a tropical shrub of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae and is indigenous to Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China. Galangal root is primarily used in Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Laotian and Cambodian cooking. Galangal powder is highly aromatic and has a sweet, piney, citrus flavour with a peppery bite.
Galangal Powder is used in both sweet and savoury dishes. It is a key ingredient for making delicious Thai curry paste, Rendang curry and Malaysian Laksa. It is perfect addition to teas, orange margaritas, lemonade and Polish vodka can also be flavoured with Galangal.
