INGREDIENTS
- 200 ml Vodka (adjust to taste)
- 750 ml Red Wine
- 350 ml water
- 1 pack Spice Zen Mulled Wine Spice Blend
- 1 Orange; sliced round for decoration
- 3 tablespoon Sugar (optional Agave syrup or Honey) - adjust to taste
- 85 grams Almonds; blanched and slivered
- 85 grams Raisins or Sultanas
- Put sugar, water and the Spice Zen Mulled Wine Spice Blend pack in a large non-reactive pot over medium heat. Stir it and let it simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Bring to boil and continue boiling for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to steep overnight. (Boil for 15 minutes and allow to steep for at least 2-3 hours, if you cannot leave it overnight.)
- Mix the spice mixture syrup with wine and vodka and place over medium heat (but do not boil) for about 10 minutes. Strain and serve warm in a heatproof glass with raisins/sultanas, sliced oranges and almonds in each cup.
- Optional garnishes: citrus slices (lemon and/or lime), Cinnamon Quills, Star Anise
- This spiced mulled wine can also be served chilled over ice.
