We handcraft our Fresh Ground Cloves, using Organic Cloves sourced from India, to ensure purity and quality of our product.
Whole Cloves are freshly ground, on receipt of your order, to bring out a strong flavour and aroma. This is immediately packed in a recyclable, amber coloured, glass jar, with an airtight induction seal, to maximise freshness of the product – you will get a strong aroma of fresh ground Cloves when you open the jar.
Cloves are the dried buds of the flower of a tropical evergreen tree. They are indigenous to Asian countries like Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and even areas of East Africa. It is native to the Maluku islands in Indonesia.
Ground Clove is a pungent spice with a strong ‘numbing’ note. It has a sweet, warm flavour with peppery undertones, and is intensely aromatic.
Clove is used in Asian cuisine in sweet spice blends for cakes and fruit to pickles, preserved meats and curries. Add a dash of Ground Cloves to baked beans, barbecue rubs and sauces, chili, tomato sauce and spaghetti.
Ground Cloves are used in recipes throughout the world ranging from curries, meat dishes, flavouring fruits, marinades and drinks like wine and cider. It is popular in flavouring apple pie, cheese, curries, meat dishes, pot roasts, rice dishes, salads, sauces, spiced breads, stews, stocks and vegetables. Ground Cloves are a key ingredient in Chinese Five Spice, Garam Masala and Pumpkin Pie Spice.
Cloves combine well with apples, beets, cabbage (red), carrots, chocolate, hams, onions, oranges, pork, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and squash.
Cloves pair well with Allspice, Bay Leaf, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Chilli, Coriander, Curry leaves, Fennel, Ginger, Mace, Nutmeg, Tamarind and Vanilla.
Approximately one teaspoon of whole Cloves can be substituted by 3/4 teaspoon of Ground Cloves.
