Chermoula is a classic North African seafood blend, and one of the emblematic flavours of the Maghreb cuisine of Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Algeria. Traditionally, Chermoula is made into a paste and used to marinate oily fish such as tuna, sardines or whiting, or any other seafood that lends itself well to barbecuing or frying. With its punchy citrus, herb, garlic and salt notes, Chermoula also works beautifully with grilled meat and poultry dishes.
Use Chermoula spice mix to elevate even the simplest dishes into exotic taste sensations. Unctuous, pungent and complex, it unlocks heady aromas as it sizzles away, evocative of the open charcoal grills which send scented smoke snaking through the air in market squares and dining districts across the Maghreb region. Along with lemon peel, chilli and garlic, our Chermoula recipe utilises traditional herbs and stoneground, hand roasted spices including Cumin, Paprika, Cinnamon, Parsley and Spearmint. Red Chilli, Black Pepper and Cayenne Pepper add a moderate, uplifting heat.
Our Chermoula Spice Blend can be used as a dry rub, perfect for barbecued lamb, beef and chicken, or mixed with lemon juice and olive oil to make a traditional paste or condiment. Marinate meat, seafood or vegetables with Chermoula paste and continue to baste the ingredients with the marinade as they cook for maximum flavour. Chermoula paste is also perfect for lifting up soups and tagines by spooning it to taste into simmering liquids.
Organic Ingredients: Cumin seed, Sweet Paprika, Coriander seed, Garlic, Red Chilli, Onion, Turmeric, Cinnamon, Lemon Peel, Cayenne Pepper, Parsley, Black Pepper, Ginger and Spearmint.
No added sweeteners, preservatives, flavourings, dairy, cacao, flour, gluten, nuts, salt, sugar
