Rich, aromatic, complex and spicy with delicate bitter-sweet undernotes, the cold-pressed virgin organic Black seed oil is a nature’s blessing bursting with flavour and wellness benefits.

Spice Zen’s certified organic, cold pressed Black seed oil is produced fresh in Australia in small batches. Premium organic Nigella (or black cumin) seeds (Nigella sativa) are cold pressed only once in a corkscrew oil press to maximise the natural integrity of the nutrients. This deep amber-hued oil is rested to settle down any solid particles by microgravity and then bottled in its purest natural form without the use of any chemicals, preservatives or processing aids.

Nigella or Black seeds have been used since ancient times and is native to South Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean region. Cold pressed Black seed oil has culinary, cosmetic and nutritional applications. To consume orally, use it on its own or mix it with other beverages like water, juices, smoothies, coffee or teas. With a distinct aroma of oregano, pepper, and onion, Nigella oil pairs well with both savoury and sweet dishes. Use it as a seasoning or finishing oil in marinades, condiments, sauces, stir-fries, dips, soups, grilled meat, pasta and salad dressings. Add it to your yoghurt and honey for a beautiful dessert.

Black seed oil is known to have several health benefits due to the presence of phytonutrients (thymoquinone (TQ), thymohydroquinone (THQ) and thymol), essential fatty acids (linoleic, oleic, palmitic), natural sterols, minerals, and vitamins. These phytonutrients and fatty acids are known for their anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, analgesic, immunomodulator, anticancer, and antidiabetic properties. Many scientific studies have shown promising evidence of the health benefits of black seed oil in diabetes, metabolic syndrome, blood pressure, cancer, and skin conditions and improving respiratory, gastrointestinal, immunity, joint, liver, and kidney health.

Black seed oil has been used for centuries for improving skin and hair and for massage applications. In traditional medicinal systems, Black seeds are also known as ‘seeds of blessings’ that can cure everything except death, and the oil is used as a natural remedy to treat various conditions.

In traditional Ayurveda, Black seed oil is used to pacify and reduce the ‘Vata’ and ‘Kapha’ dosha. Ayurvedic followers recommend 1/2-1 teaspoon of black seed oil per day.

Store it in a cool, dark place or refrigerate for longer shelf life.

Spice Zen’s Cold Pressed Black Seed oil is certified organic by ACO.
