Description
Darjeeling Phuguri Moonlight is one of the rarest expressions of first flush Darjeeling, a tea harvested at night from the high-altitude certified organic Phuguri Tea Estate in Mirik Valley. This limited-edition tea is crafted from premium chinary and prized clonal cultivars renowned for their elegance, perfume and extraordinary sweetness.
On the first clear full-moon nights between March and May, only the finest two leaves and a bud are picked, when the plant’s internal moisture recedes and its natural sugars lift towards the leaf tips. Under moonlight and before dawn breaks, the leaves are harvested and processed so that sunlight never touches them, preserving the ethereal aroma and delicate, nectar-like sweetness that make Moonlight teas so treasured.
The dry leaf is exquisitely beautiful: finely rolled, olive-green strands threaded with silver tips, releasing a captivating fragrance reminiscent of summer fruits and soft floral breezes. When infused, the leaves bloom into a bright golden-amber liquor, feather-light with gentle muscatel, zesty, honeyed and fruity, with a finish that lingers like soft moonlit nectar.
This tea can be re-steeped multiple times, each infusion revealing new layers of brightness and floral sweetness. Hand-packed in small batches at our gluten-free Sydney facility, this celestial first flush is a rare treasure of our Haute Couture collection.
