OUR STORY

Spice Zen was founded by Aditya and Preeti from a deeply personal search for food that felt safe, honest and inclusive.

Living with coeliac disease and multiple food intolerances, everyday food shopping became a constant source of anxiety for Preeti. Labels were read forensically, yet certainty was rarely guaranteed. Undeclared fillers, shared processing lines and limited transparency made trust difficult, and allergic reactions remained an ever-present risk. Food that was meant to bring us together, often left Preeti out at the table.

We also noticed that some herbs, spices and teas would lose their freshness long before reaching the kitchen. And as the adverse impact of mass-produced refined oils became apparent, our frustration deepened. Meeting food sensitivities was difficult enough; creating meals that were safe, healthy and enjoyable felt even harder.

What began as a commitment to eating clean and healthy soon became a deeper journey into reimagining the pantry itself.

We returned to childhood memories of our family kitchens in Delhi, gently roasting whole spices fresh and stone-grinding them by hand, then cooking with freshly pressed oils. Those aromas permeated the home and drew everyone to the table. The spices were bold and alive. We realized how far modern spice production had drifted from these traditions, replacing care and freshness with fillers, anti-caking agents and additives that were never part of real spice making.

We began sourcing certified organic whole spices, loose leaf teas and cold-pressed oils. Time-honoured family recipes were translated into modern replications.

Our journey expanded through travel, careful research and a growing respect for how traditional food wisdom can be strengthened by modern knowledge. We began creating our own spice blends, teas and first cold-pressed nut and seed oils. Along the way, we created what we could not find: gluten-free, rice-based couscous and semolina that behave like their traditional counterparts. Food became inclusive without sacrificing texture, flavour or variety.

The change in our kitchen was immediate. Food tasted flavourful and nourishing. Tea felt fresher and more comforting. Oils felt clean and true to their origin. What once felt restrictive became expansive. Everyone could share mealtimes with confidence and enjoyment.

Spice Zen was born to share our journey and conscious way of cooking and eating, so you can enjoy nature’s diverse possibilities with confidence. We stepped away from corporate careers to build something deeper and more meaningful.

Today, Spice Zen offers over 300 products, from single-origin whole spices and herbs to handcrafted blends, teas, cold-pressed oils and gluten-free pantry staples for people who care deeply about what they eat and how it is made. What began in our home kitchen now operates from a dedicated gluten-free facility in Sydney, Australia.

Our products are presented in thoughtfully considered packaging that balances functionality, sustainability and elegance.

We commit daily to our promise to offer fresh, flavourful and nourishing food that brings the beauty of nature to your family table.

OUR VALUES

These values are the foundation of our philosophy:

Pantry Couture for the Conscious Gourmet.

01

Care for Your Wellbeing

When you choose a Spice Zen product, you place your trust in us. What we create becomes part of your daily life and the family table – that responsibility guides every decision we make and every product we bring to life.

You deserve clarity, openness and honesty about what you bring into your home: how ingredients are sourced, how they are processed and how products are presented. Our aim is to make your choices feel calm, informed and confident.

02

Food Without Compromise

Dietary needs should never restrict the enjoyment of flavour and variety. We aim to create food that is inclusive and unlock the freedom to cook, eat and share with confidence.

03

Tradition, Guided by Understanding

The flavours we turn to most often come from generations of wisdom. We honour these traditions while applying modern understanding to use them thoughtfully in today’s kitchen.

04

Harmony with Nature

Everything we use, ingredients, packaging, equipment and energy, comes from nature and deserves our respect. Thoughtful sourcing, minimising waste and long-term responsibility shape the decisions we make every day.

05

Beauty in the Pantry

Good food nourishes more than the physical body. Everyday ingredients engage the senses through flavour, aroma, texture, nutrition and design. Your pantry should feel as inspiring as your plate.

THE DIFFERENCE

What sets Spice Zen apart is the care behind every decision.

Certified Organic and Gluten-Free – Always

We source only certified organic spices, herbs, teas and ingredients, following controls from the origin. Australian native ingredients are organically grown, without pesticides, and sourced through trusted growers, as formal certification is not always available for them.

Our entire range is gluten-free, processed and packed in-house at our dedicated gluten-free facility. This gives us complete control, traceability and confidence across everything we create.

Traditional Methods, Chosen with Care

We use gentle handling and traditional processing methods. Spices are roasted and freshly ground at slow speed, teas are carefully blended and oils are first cold-pressed.

All production is in small batches and packaged with care. Product integrity across the entire chain maintains freshness and a small amount delivers depth of aroma, flavour and nourishment.

Pure Ingredients Only

We source ingredients from regions where they naturally thrive, selecting them for freshness, quality, nutritional integrity and the true character of the origin.

Our products contain only what belongs there – no fillers, artificial flavourings, preservatives or extracts.

Family-Owned, Responsibility Taken Personally

As a Sydney-based, small family business, we are personally involved in every aspect of Spice Zen. We work intentionally every day to guide production, minimise waste and honour our responsibility to our customers, partners and the environment.

THE FOUNDERS

Preeti and Aditya

Preeti and Aditya

Spice Zen was founded by Aditya and Preeti, a husband-and-wife team whose shared relationship with food extends beyond the kitchen into how they live and work.

Preeti’s experience with food sensitivities led her back to the flavours and rituals of her childhood. Her creativity in the kitchen grew from a need to cook with confidence, experimenting with ingredients and methods that met her dietary requirements. Aditya recognised a broader need for food made with honesty and purity. Together, they envisioned a business built on trust, transparency and food people could truly rely on. They chose to leave their corporate careers and begin Spice Zen, initially from their home.

Their partnership brings together complementary strengths across business strategy, agriculture, the food industry, marketing, legal and operational disciplines. This blend of commercial rigour and lived experience shapes how Spice Zen is run day to day, guided by care, patience and heart.

Aditya and Preeti remain closely involved in every aspect of the business, from product development and sourcing to quality control, production and long-term direction. Working from their purpose-built facility in Sydney, Australia, they believe that enduring brands are built deliberately, through quality, consistency and trust earned over time.

Spice Zen represents a long-term commitment to create something meaningful. Every product begins with the same quiet test: Would we proudly use this in our own kitchen and serve it to the people we love?

Only then does it become part of Spice Zen.
