From the Spice Zen Haute Couture Tea Collection
Darjeeling Orange Valley First Flush Black Tea is a rare spring Grand Cru, harvested at the very start of the season when the bushes awaken with tender, dew-kissed leaves full of aroma and natural brightness. Sourced directly from the certified organic Orange Valley Tea Estate, perched high at nearly 2,000 metres above sea level, this tea is crafted from century-old chinary bushes whose small leaves yield one of the purest expressions of first flush Darjeeling.
Nestled along the “blue mountain” ridge above Darjeeling town, Orange Valley remains one of the region’s most storied estates, still operating with original machinery to preserve the classic, nuanced Darjeeling character. The surrounding orange trees infuse the microclimate with a gentle citrus freshness, contributing to the tea’s sparkling fruitiness and unmistakable spring vitality.
The dry leaf is elegant and striking - mixed green and olive tones intertwined with generous silvery tips, a hallmark of the estate’s premium first flush craftsmanship. When brewed, it unfurls into a bright golden liquor, alive with floral perfume, soft stone-fruit notes, and a whisper of honeyed sweetness that lingers long after each sip. Light, graceful and utterly refreshing, it is a tea to savour slowly, whether in a quiet morning ritual or as the centrepiece of an afternoon high tea.
Hand-packed in small batches at our gluten-free Sydney facility, this first flush jewel retains all the freshness, clarity and Haute Couture refinement of its Himalayan origin.
