Description
Botanical Name: Tasmannia lanceolata
Mountain pepper berry, also called as 'Tasmanian Pepper', is one of Australia’s most distinctive native spices, growing wild in the cool temperate forests of Tasmania, Victoria and south-eastern New South Wales.
The small, dark berries may visually be reminiscent of black peppercorns, but their flavour is far more complex and assertive. Mountain pepperberry opens with subtle berry and resinous notes before releasing a slow, warming heat that builds gradually and lingers on the palate.
Spice Zen’s wild crafted Mountain Pepper berry is carefully selected for aroma, colour and potency and packed in our gluten-free Sydney facility. It brings unmistakable bush character to savoury cooking and adds surprising depth when paired with sweet ingredients such as chocolate and fruit-based desserts.
