Description
Botanical Name: Crocus sativus
Saffron is harvested entirely by hand from the delicate crimson stigmas of the saffron crocus. Persian saffron is widely regarded as the benchmark for quality, valued for its long intact threads, rich colour intensity and layered aroma that unfolds gradually in warm dishes.
Across Persian, Middle Eastern and South Asian cuisines, saffron is used with restraint. A small quantity is enough to transform rice, milk, desserts or sauces, imparting a luminous golden hue and a fragrance that is floral, honeyed and softly earthy. Its role is refinement. Never loud, always deliberate.
Spice Zen’s Certified Organic Persian Saffron is premium Grade A quality, selected for purity, colour depth and aromatic clarity. Packed in a premium designer tin, it is intended for careful use in dishes where craftsmanship and patience are central.
Flavour & Aroma Profile
Delicately floral and honeyed with warm hay notes, gentle earthiness and a long, elegant finish.
How to Use
• Use 6 to 10 threads for 4 servings
• Steep threads in 1 to 2 tablespoons warm water or milk for 5 to 10 minutes before adding
• For rice, use a small pinch per 1 cup uncooked rice
• For milk-based desserts, use 6 to 8 threads per 500 ml milk
• Add the infused liquid towards the end of cooking to preserve aroma and colour

Wellness Tradition
Saffron has long been appreciated across Persian, Mediterranean and Ayurvedic culinary traditions for its aromatic warmth and luminous colour. It is traditionally associated with celebratory dishes and meals prepared with care and intention.
In Ayurveda, saffron is described as gently warming and harmonising, culturally regarded as suitable across all three doshas when used in small quantities. These reflections honour traditional food heritage rather than medical guidance.
Caution:
