Description
Botanical Name: Ocimum tenuiflorum
Tulsi, also known as holy basil, holds a deeply rooted place in Indian food and tea culture, where it has been brewed for centuries as part of everyday life. Its softly spiced aroma and gently bitter-sweet flavour create a comforting infusion that feels steady and familiar, whether enjoyed alone or as part of a simple routine.
Naturally caffeine free, tulsi is often chosen in the morning or evening as a calming alternative to traditional tea. Its balanced character makes it easy to drink regularly, with a flavour that is warming without heaviness and aromatic without sharpness.
Spice Zen’s Pure Tulsi Tea is carefully dried to preserve the leaf’s natural oils, aroma and colour. Quality checked and hand-packed in our gluten-free Sydney facility.

Wellness Tradition
Tulsi has traditionally been enjoyed as a warming herbal infusion, appreciated for its aromatic character and steady, comforting nature.
In Ayurveda, tulsi is revered as a deeply protective and purifying herb, traditionally associated with resilience, clarity and vitality. It has long been included in daily rituals and seasonal teas, where it is culturally appreciated for its cleansing nature and its role in maintaining balance during times of environmental stress. Tulsi is traditionally linked with supporting the body’s natural defences and is often enjoyed in warming infusions as part of everyday immunity-focused routines, particularly during seasonal transitions. Its aromatic, lightly pungent character is also valued in traditional digestive practices, where light herbal teas are used to restore equilibrium after meals. It is often associated with supporting balance across Vata and Kapha, while being enjoyed gently by Pitta when brewed lightly.
