Description
Botanical Name: Acronychia acidula
Lemon Aspen, also known as Rainforest Lemon, grows in the tropical and tableland rainforests of northern Queensland through to north-eastern New South Wales. This pale lemon-coloured fruit, recognised by its rigid star-shaped core and thin spongy flesh, has long been appreciated by Indigenous communities as a seasonal bush food valued for its refreshing brightness and connection to rainforest Country.
Traditionally enjoyed slightly raw for its vivid character, Lemon Aspen offers a citrus-forward, tart flavour with a strong lemon profile and a hint of white grapefruit. Its aroma is distinctly tropical: bright, zesty and lively with subtle undertones of spice, eucalyptus leaf and rainforest freshness.
Spice Zen’s Lemon Aspen Powder is crafted from freeze-dried fruit to preserve the fruit’s natural aroma, flavour and brightness. With its sherbet-like tang, clean acidity and layered botanical notes, it brings a uniquely Australian citrus dimension to both sweet and savoury dishes.
