Description
Botanical name: Pimpinella anisum
Evoking the sweet, nostalgic aroma of Mediterranean bakeries and old-world spice markets, aniseed has been treasured for centuries for its gentle warmth and naturally licorice-like sweetness. Used from the Levant to Greece and across Europe, it remains one of the most versatile aromatic spices in both sweet and savoury kitchens.
Our certified organic aniseed is stone-milled in small batches at our gluten-free Sydney facility, preserving its volatile oils and releasing a bright, sweet fragrance as soon as you open the jar. Stone milling creates a naturally rustic, uneven texture that delivers fuller flavour and a deeper aromatic bloom in baking, confectionery, sauces and spiced beverages.
With a flavour often compared to fennel, star anise and mild licorice, ground aniseed adds instant character to breads, pastries, fruit desserts, spice rubs, Greek-inspired syrups, pasta sauces and Middle Eastern dishes.
