Description
Satay evokes the glow of charcoal grills across Java and Malaysia. Skewers turning slowly over open flame. Sweet savoury aromatics rising into the night air. Lemongrass, galangal and pandanus carried gently on the breeze.
Believed to have originated on the Indonesian island of Java before travelling through Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, satay has become a defining dish of Southeast Asia. Traditionally, meat is marinated, skewered and grilled, then served with a rich sauce that balances smoke, warmth and gentle sweetness.
Spice Zen’s Satay Spice Blend captures that atmosphere with rare attention to detail. Certified organic coriander, cumin and fennel create savoury structure. Ginger and turmeric bring warmth. Tamarind adds subtle brightness. Lemongrass and galangal lift the blend with fresh citrus aromatics. The inclusion of pandanus leaf, a deeply fragrant Southeast Asian botanical seldom found in dry blends, gives this seasoning its softly sweet and unmistakable signature.
The flavour is warm, layered and inviting. It carries the memory of traditional satay while allowing complete freedom in the kitchen. Free from peanuts, shrimp, onion, garlic, soy, sugar and salt, it lets you shape your own version. Creamy with peanut. Light with coconut. Nut free. Vegan. Classic or contemporary.
Hand-roasted and stone-ground in small batches at our gluten free Sydney facility using certified organic spices chosen for purity and aromatic clarity. Packed fresh in recyclable amber glass jars to preserve natural oils and just-milled fragrance.
