Description
Kitchari (kich-ah-ree), also known as Khichdi and historically linked to Kedgeree, one of India’s oldest comfort dishes. A humble bowl of grains, lentils, spices and ghee, it has nourished generations for thousands of years and remains at the heart of Ayurvedic food culture as a soft, warm, easily digestible daily meal.
Spice Zen’s certified organic Kitchari Spice Blend brings together nine certified organic spices traditionally used in Ayurvedic-style cooking. Earthy cumin, sweet fennel, golden turmeric, warming ginger, peppery lift, mustard seed, fenugreek bitters and aromatic cloves create a flavour profile that is savoury, grounding and quietly restorative.
In Ayurveda, kitchari is appreciated as a tridoshic preparation, suitable for Vata, Pitta and Kapha especially when customised with grains, seasonal vegetables and the right cooking fats. This blend reflects that philosophy: warming enough for Vata, gentle enough for Pitta, and aromatic and dry enough to lighten Kapha.
Each batch is hand-roasted, stone milled and blended in small batches at our gluten-free Sydney facility, then packed fresh in recyclable amber glass jars to preserve aroma and purity.
Flavour & Aroma Profile
