Description
A fragrance that feels like home, warm, sweet-aromatic and steeped in tradition.
Some masalas are learned. Others are lived. This Garam Masala comes from our family recipe passed for generations, originally taught in the intuitive rhythm of old-world cooking, where a pinch was a chutki, a measure was andaaz (feel), and harmony came from taste, smell and tradition rather than teaspoons. It reflects the true North Indian style of Garam Masala that existed long before commercial blends: no coriander and no chilli. Only warm, sweet-aromatic spices such as black cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, mace, nutmeg and pepper.
Aromatic and layered, this blend offers gentle warmth, sweet spice and natural depth. Traditionally used as a finishing masala in dals, sabzis, rice dishes and curries, it is equally beautiful in modern cooking, stirred into base gravies, butter chicken, biryanis, marinades, soups, roasted vegetables, braises, dressings, warm grain bowls and aromatic baking.
Spice Zen’s certified organic Garam Masala honours this lineage in every detail. Whole spices sourced from India are gently dry-roasted and stone-ground in small batches at our gluten-free Sydney facility, preserving their essential oils and the rustic texture that defines authentic garam masala. Packed fresh into recyclable amber glass jars, it captures the unmistakable just-milled fragrance that once rose from our family’s kitchen.
Flavour & Aroma Profile
Deeply aromatic and naturally intense, with gentle smokiness from black cardamom, penetrating warmth from cloves and pepper, sweet-rounded notes from cinnamon, nutmeg and mace, and a subtle herbal lift from bay leaf. A concentrated, full-bodied flavour that needs only a small pinch to transform a dish.

Wellness Note
In Indian culinary tradition, warming spices such as cinnamon, cloves and pepper have long been appreciated for their comforting, aromatic and grounding qualities. In Ayurveda garam masala is often considered gently tridoshic - supportive across Vata, Pitta and Kapha when enjoyed mindfully.
