Description
Description
Chermoula is one of the defining flavours of Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya, a spirited blend traditionally mixed with lemon and oil to marinate fish, enrich tagines, and perfume charcoal-grilled meats. Rooted in the Maghrebi word meaning “to marinate,” Chermoula is prepared daily in coastal towns, where families pass down their own heirloom variations from generation to generation.
Spice Zen’s handcrafted version celebrates the red-style Chermoula of Morocco, built on a warm base of cumin, coriander seed, sweet paprika, chilli, cayenne and turmeric, brightened with lemon peel, rounded with cinnamon and ginger, and lifted by parsley and spearmint. As it hits heat, the blend unveils its signature aroma: citrusy, smoky, herbaceous and gently spicy, reminiscent of open-fire grills and bustling souks scented with spice smoke.
Hand-roasted and stone-milled in our gluten-free Sydney facility, the blend retains its essential oils, delivering deep flavour and that just-milled freshness you experience the moment you open the jar.
Traditionally used with seafood, Chermoula today is embraced across cuisines - perfect for lamb cutlets, grilled vegetables, hearty grain bowls and modern plant-forward cooking.
