Often described as the “mother blend” of Lebanese Seven Spice (Sabaa Baharat), Baharat shares the same soulful base of cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pepper but adds a rounded sweetness and refinement that make it beautifully versatile. It’s the aromatic essence of the spice souks of Beirut, Damascus, and Istanbul, capturing the timeless warmth of family kitchens and street markets.
Hand-roasted and stone-ground in small batches at our gluten-free Sydney facility, Spice Zen’s Baharat is crafted from certified organic Cumin, Sweet Paprika, Black Pepper, Allspice, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves, Coriander, and Cardamom. Each spice is roasted to release its natural oils, then blended to create a fragrant harmony that enhances without overpowering.
Traditionally used as an all-purpose seasoning across the Middle East, much like Garam Masala in India. Baharat elevates meats, vegetables, rice, and soups with its rich, gently sweet aroma. It adds character and complexity to food without chilli heat, making it ideal for family cooking or fine dining alike.
