This traditional masala chai is slowly brewed with Spice Zen Masala Chai Spice Blend and Spice Zen Assam black tea, then finished with milk for a bold yet rounded and deeply aromatic cup. Gentle simmering allows the spices to open gradually, creating warmth and balance without bitterness. Comforting and full-bodied, this is a classic chai designed for everyday ritual.

1 teaspoon Spice Zen Assam Black Tea Blend (or 1 tea bag)

Directions
Pour the water into a small saucepan and add the Masala Chai Spice Blend and ginger juice, if using. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a steady simmer for 3 minutes until fragrant.
Add the Assam black tea and continue simmering for 2 minutes, allowing the tea to infuse without boiling aggressively.
Add the milk and simmer gently for a further 1 minutes until the chai deepens in colour and aroma.
Strain into a cup, sweeten to taste and serve hot.

Keep the simmer gentle to avoid bitterness.
Slightly extend the final simmer for a stronger, more traditional chai.
Recipe Note
Black Chai: Skip the milk for a clean, spice-forward cup
Vegan Adaptation: Use almond or other plant-based milk in place of dairy.
No Cooktop: Add spices to boiling water in an infusion pot, steep 3–4 minutes, then add tea and milk and steep briefly before straining. Alternatively, combine water and spices in a heatproof jug, microwave until boiling, add tea and milk, microwave briefly, then strain.
Spice Strength: Adjust the spice blend slightly to suit your preferred intensity.
Serving Context: Traditionally enjoyed mid-morning or afternoon.
